How we made a Better Australia

The Better Australia Team

The Better Australia campaign had a clear and urgent objective: prevent a minority government and stop the rise of the Greens and Teals.

We focused on 10 key seats during a concentrated campaign period—and the results speak for themselves. Responding to local community requests, we expanded into 3 additional contests (2 Green and 1 Teal), contributing to high-profile defeats for the Greens and a clear rejection of Teal candidates in those electorates.

In Green-contested seats, Better Australia ran the most targeted third-party campaign of the election. We focused on disaffected Green voters concerned about cost-of-living pressures, the financial risks of radical policies, and the party’s repeated hypocrisy in blocking legislation it claims to support. It was a message that resonated—and persuaded.

In Teal contests, we identified a growing gap and responded quickly, scaling up our advertising and deploying a national ground game. Our relentless focus on why voters couldn’t trust the Teals was not only timely—it was effective. Where we engaged, the results were closer, stronger, and in some cases decisive.

With deep funding and media backing behind Teal campaigns, the fight for these seats is far from over. But Better Australia blazed the trail.

Our strategy, our volunteers, and our disciplined messaging gave us the campaigning edge. We never lost sight of the bigger picture: a minority government would be a disaster for Australia.

Everyone involved in the Better Australia campaign should be proud of what we achieved.
